Have you ever brought something home with 'some assembly required?' Maybe you've noticed that the instructions were written in several different languages – usually French, Spanish and English at a minimum. Did you think that the company was being generous in giving you several different languages to choose from? Why did they choose those particular languages?

When you decide to go beyond your national borders, there are language differences that a product or service company will need to consider. However, this does not only apply to the verbiage in your instruction booklet, but also the language your computer software or hardware speak as well.

Usually a company will decide to sell internationally when they have realized a demand from a company outside their own nation. In that case and in order to sell within that country you may need professional translation services.

There are many things to consider when you decide to go global with your company's product or service. Below are just a few.

1. What do the laws of that country say about your product/service? You will have to find out what the buying country requires for product or services to have in order to be put on shelves, both physically and/or virtually.

2. Marketing. How will your packaging and/or product hold up in their marketplace? What is possibly a known product here in the states may not be so known in other parts of the world and may therefore require additional advertising considerations.

3. Is your company set up to deliver international customer service? Do you have personnel and infrastructure set up to take on the international languages and issues your product may face?

4. Lastly and most obviously you will want to determine if your return for going global will outweigh the risk and investment. After doing all of the research and putting the plan together, will you still profit? That is the decision-making time that will force you to dive in or jump out.

To get your business on the global highway you will need a trusted translation company. Contact us to learn about our services.
